A performer since eight years old, Broadway actor Hunter Ryan Herdlicka has appeared in concerts and regional productions across the country. A classically trained actor, he has spent a season with the Utah Shakespearean Festival and had the unique experience of appearing in six leading roles with the West Virginia Public Theatre. From Shakespeare to Brecht to Sondheim, his versatility has caught the eye of audiences and critics alike.
In May 2009, this Dallas native graduated from the prestigious Carnegie Mellon School of Drama and came to New York for the start of his acting career. Within 9 days, he attended his 1st audition and was asked to return for a callback- attended by famed Director Trevor Nunn and the legendary composer Stephen Sondheim. It was right after his callback, he was told he landed the coveted role of "Henrik Egerman" in the theatrical masterpiece A Little Night Music opposite Catherine Zeta-Jones and Angela Lansbury. The production was nominated for four 2010 Tony Awards including BEST REVIVAL OF A MUSICAL.
In the past year, Hunter has had leading roles in Bubble Boy: The Musical, The Greenwood Tree, and the reincarnation of the beloved musical, It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s Superman, for which he worked alongside the legendary Lee Adams and Charles Strouse.
Hunter has starred in Broadway Backwards 5 at Lincoln Center's Vivian Beaumont Theater (alongside Florence Henderson, Lea Salonga, Mario Cantone, and countless others), which benefited Broadway Cares Equity Fights Aids as well as at Joe's Pub, Birdland, and many other NYC clubs.
His new concert "I HAPPEN TO LIKE NEW YORK" which premiered at Feinstein's at Loews Regency in June 2010, features classic theater songs by Tony Award Winning composers Stephen Sondheim, Jerry Herman, and Kander & Ebb. rj is pleased to offer rising star Hunter Ryan Herdlicka In Concert for the 2010-2011 season.
