JASON
GRAAE was cheered by The New York Times this year as "the Al Jolson -like
singing and dancing clown... {who} executed the lyrics with the perfect comic
flourishes... It's obvious this 'Broadway Baby' knows the score!" Jason's
latest solo show, Graae's Anatomy, just won the "New York Bistro Award"
for "Best Major Engagement" and was listed in "TimeOut NY's"
"Top 10 Best Cabaret Shows Of 2004". On Broadway, Jason was featured
in A Grand Night For Singing, Falsettos, Stardust, Snoopy!
and Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up? Off-Broadway shows
include Hello, Muddah, Hello, Fadduh, for which he received a Drama Desk
Nomination for Best Actor in a Musical, Forever Plaid, Olympus on My
Mind, All in the Timing, and many more. Jason made his Metropolitan
Opera House debut as vocal soloist in Twyla Tharp's Everlast with the American
Ballet Theatre and performed his one-man show at N.Y's Rainbow and Stars. In
Los Angeles, Jason hung upside down for a year as Houdini in the U.S. premiere
of Ragtime, won the "L.A. Ovation Award" for Forbidden Broadway
Y2KLA!, was featured as Marcellus in The Music Man at The Hollywood
Bowl, performed in many shows at Reprise! and at The Rubicon Theatre he played
Floy in High Button Shoes (Santa Barbara Indie Award). This last year he
was seen as the entire company in Fully Committed at The El Portal (Artistic
Director Achievement Award) and as Otto in the acclaimed revival of Grand Hotel
at The Colony Theatre. Jason made his Opera debut as Njegus in The Merry
Widow with the Los Angeles Opera, repeating the role with the Houston Grand
Opera and the New Orleans Opera. With the Washington National Opera , he played
Frosch in Die Fledermaus(PBS). Also for PBS, he was a guest artist twice
with the Boston Pops on Evening at Pops! and recently appeared with Marvin
Hamlisch and the National Symphony on Holiday for the Troops at The Kennedy
Center. Other television appearances include playing Dennis on HBO's
Six Feet Under and Chad on Showtime's Rude Awakening. He has guest
-starred on dozens of shows including Friends, Frasier, Sabrina
the Teenage Witch, Caroline in the City, Providence. etc For
five years Jason was the voice of Lucky, the Leprechaun for Lucky Charms
Cereal, "a balanced part of your complete breakfast". He lost the job
when he moved to L.A. but he is NOT bitter. He has recorded over thirty-five
original cast albums and studio CDS, including his two solo CDs, You're Never
Fully Dressed Without A Smile- Jason Graae Sings Charles Strouse and Jason
Graae LIVE At The Cinegrill(Fynsworth Alley).
