The Critics Said.... Many
singers have voices that are "instruments"; Karen Saunders has an entire
orchestra. With her four octave range, she can sound like a mellow cello one minute
and explode like a sassy brass section the next. She's got a voice to beat the
band." - New York Daily News "Karen
Saunders has reached that rare place at which true artistry, emotional honesty
and rare sensitivity combine" - BackStage "...When
Karen Saunders stepped to the mike and let out all the stops, I made a note: There
is a voice. She rides a song like a brilliant, enthusiastic bicyclist, uphill,
down dale, deep and slow, hot and fast, joyous, conspiratorial, deadly serious,
wickedly funny, but always -- always -- with the fullest intelligence. Or, if
you like, a high, exciting, concentration
She's funny, engaging and warm,
dealing with a crowd of strangers as though they were all friends at a small party
in her living room. " - New York Post "Sexy,
irreverent, revealing and totally captivating." - Variety "Stage
appeal and musical magnetism." - San Francisco Examiner Saunders
sings like a woman possessed of multiple personalities, each with it's own voice.
Go expecting the unexpected and you won't be disappointed." - Theatre
Week "Karen Saunders is remarkably
versatile and her choice of material reflects that
the music she chooses
becomes distinctly her own by the time she is through with it. She blew the audience
away
Loose and comfortable, she is as likely to knock them dead with a song
that offered a dazzling display of her vocal flexibility while never sacrificing
her honest emotionality all of which only begins to define this complete and complex
artist." - Drama-Logue <
