The Tonics

The Tonics at RJ Productions

The Tonics (Cortés Alexander, Michael Patrick Coughlin, Gene Reed and newest member Kathie Talbot) are a Los Angeles based vocal quartet.

After an absence of nearly 15 years, The Tonics are thrilled to join forces once again, sharing their unique sound and intricate harmonies with concert audiences around the world.

In the 90s, they dominated the New York nightclub circuit performing to sold out houses. As a special request by Stephen Sondheim, they were invited to be part of the all star Emmy-nominated PBS special, "Sondheim - A Celebration at Carnegie Hall". They can also be heard on the RCA recording of the event.

The Tonics have performed at many special events, including being asked by acclaimed songwriter Jimmy Webb to perform at a star-studded event honoring him at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall.

In concert, The Tonics have performed all over the world. In L.A., they have performed at venues such as The Wiltern Theatre, Wilshire Ebell and Café Largo. The Tonics have shared the stage with Elton John, Melissa Etheridge, Bette Midler and Ellen Degeneres in fundraising concerts for the L.A. Shanti Foundation as well as the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center. For several years they appeared in the annual S.T.A.G.E. benefits for APLA.

Their harmonies and humor helped land them a gig as the opening number on Comic Relief VII at the Gibson Amphitheater. Other television appearances include The Rosie O'Donnell Show and Good Morning America.

The Tonics' achievements have not gone unnoticed. They have won multiple awards naming them Best Vocal Group by NYC's MAC Award (twice) and Backstage Newspaper.

Individually, the group has never stopped performing:

Most recently, Cortés was seen on Broadway in the TONY award winning sold out show, "Liza's at the Palace" and is featured in the DVD release of the acclaimed show. His solo CD "Swell" was released in Fall 2009 and is available on iTunes and CDbaby.com.

Michael is currently playing clubs and singer/songwriter industry nights all over L.A. His songs can be heard on MySpace Music.

Gene is a member of "The Dan Band" touring across the country to sold-out crowds, appearing in the motion pictures "Old School" and "The Hangover" and is most recently recurring on The Jay Leno Show.

Kathie is a well respected film/TV composer and music producer. Some of her credits include music for Ugly Betty, CSI, Burn Notice, The Mentalist and In The Loop.

It is an honor for rj productions to bring The Tonics back to the concert world as a vocal quartet.

The Tonics and Rich Aronstein would like to thank Lindy Robbins for her support and blessings.
